Life has been hectic.
I need to get back to this blog.
Three topics over the next few weeks
- The Holidays without a car.
- Dating without a car.
- My proposed 2016 adult tricycle ride from Chicago to Bemidji to bring awareness for the need of more transportation options.
Yesterday was the first time by using the bus I got my shopping done in less than two hours!!!
But I had to wait two hours before I could get the bus.
Will fill you in this weekend
This one is short and sweet!
All the protest marches, boycotts, etc. are meaningless unless you get off your butt and vote!!!
Well I’ve been back a week and am still very impressed how a small Minnesota town in the middle of the North Country can move people around better than a big city suburb.
The trend now is that the upcoming younger generation may be eschewing the car for other forms of getting around. That’s great and I applaud their choice. It will go a long way in improving public transit.
However they made a decision to do that, people in my situation had the choice made for them. If the auto becomes a conscious choice again, it will be my group that will get shafted.
I need work to make sure that doesn’t happen.
I am right now in Bemidji, MN. for my college homecoming. First time I have been back in 25 years. The town has grown about 20,000 live here and they are home to three colleges. Even though you can walk pretty easily here to get where you need to go-IT HAS A BETTER TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM THAN MOST BIG CITY SUBURBS!!!
I going to explore the town today and the school and I will get back to you.
Now that I don’t drive I can observe driving habits without having to react.
I have come to the conclusion that driving in a demolition derby is a lot safer than driving in traffic.
Everyone is in a hurry, distracted by cell phones and no consideration for any body.
